Fire Chief  History

In 1974, Leslie Keith Gillum was the first Chief for Norton Branch Fire Department and David Powers was Assistant Chief. After David moved away Paul Thomas became Assistant Chief.

Keith Gillum served as Chief for 12 years . He was a very hands on person, was always at the station doing something. Until he started to work out of town in 1986, he then step down as Chief and Joe Shawhan step up to be Chief.

Joe Shawhan served as  for 3 years, and in 1989 he stepped down as Chief due to hours that he worked and Paul Thomas step up to become Chief at that time, and Joe Shawhan served as Assistant Chief.

In 1996, Greg Gillum stepped in and served as Chief until 2009. June of 2009, Greg Gillum  retired from Norton Branch Fire Department and Paul Thomas stepped in and is still to date Chief of the department.
